Sounds Commercial were the appointed Event Managers for the high profile JISC 2008 Conference at the ICC Birmingham, in April 2008.
Featuring a keynote address by Lord Putnam of Bloomsbury, the event consisted of main plenary sessions, six breakout workshops throughout the morning and a further six in the afternoon together with an exhibition for fifty stands.
The event team at Sounds Commercial project managed every element of this event, including a VIP dinner, a team dinner and accommodation as required. The event involved the pre-registration of 800 delegates and 100 exhibitors; the preparation of all delegate bags and name badges; the design of exhibitor floor plans and exhibitor registration, together with full on site event management on
the day.
The event was a huge success for presenters, delegates and exhibitors alike and was deemed their best event ever, and as a result Sounds Commercial have been appointed the Event Management company for their 2009 Conference at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
The CAD department for set and production design was particularly pleased to have been able to meet the challenging brief set out by L’Oréal Professionnel for the L-Oreal Homme launch in Monte Carlo this year.
The set concept and its elements were developed over a few weeks and presented to the client. Fortunately the production layout was the simplest part of the design with the venue dictating the scenery shape to compliment a peculiar ceiling made of a lattice of timber.Flying was possible via timber beams accessed from above the ceiling and we flew lighting truss along side the stage to cover the demonstration area.
The set reflected the Homme brand with the use of dark wood effect material, brushed aluminium laminates and clean lines.
A central reveal involving moving scenery brought a new set of challenges, solved by using a discrete “Bee Small” automation wheel and track system.
The Set Works did a fantastic job of the build and tackled the “screen hangers” (see picture) with the careful attention they deserved. Integrating metal bars that supported two sections of the wood shape. This enabled us to off-set the frame against the back wall and have a sharks tooth gauze fill with LED lighting to give a floating appearance.
