The video was based around the theme of a 1920’s cabaret show. It was full of lights, glitz and glamour and dancers with feather bowers! To achieve this we did a days filming in our in house studio, against a full length green screen back drop. All the dance moves were carefully choreographed before hand by a professional dancer and choreographer. They worked with our director and motion graphics designer to fit the dance routines to the storyboard.
For the post production stage we decided to use a Final Cut Pro edit suite to cut the footage from the shoot. This was then exported to a motion graphics compositing package called After Effects. Here the green screen background was keyed out and replaced with a lavish smoky cabaret back drop. The dancer was also duplicated in some parts to create a kaleidoscope effect. We took this style further by mirroring the dancer to create striking symmetrical sequences. The look of the piece was created by carefully selecting colours and lighting appropriate to the theme.
The end result took the audience on a wonderful journey through the world of cabaret shows. The piece ends with a finale, with multiple dancers on a back lit stage dazzled in lights. The title of the event is then revealed. A perfect way to start the awards, the opener had the audience captivated from the outset.
